SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (4-4-2): Westwood 7; Palmer 8, Lees 8, Zayatte 8, Dielna 6; Lee 6 (Hutchinson, 57), Semedo 6, McGugan 8 (Maguire, 82), Maghoma 6; NUHIU 8, Keane 8 (May, 87).

MIDDLESBROUGH (3-5-2):

6 Konstantopoulos: Got close to saving Nuhiu’s penalty, but got caught off his line for the second;

4 Kalas: Let Keane get the better of him in arguably his most disappointing display since arriving

4 Gibson: Not his usual commanding self and really struggled with Nuhiu’s physical presence

4 Omeruo: Looked nervy whenever the ball came into Boro’s box and conceded the penalty;

5 Adomah: The nature of the game meant he didn’t see enough of the ball in the final third and spent a lot of time tracking back

6 Clayton: Not his most influential display in a game Boro’s midfield were often bypassed by long balls

5 Whitehead: Made a couple of important interceptions, but overall didn’t offer the back four enough protection

6 Forshaw: Always looked to move the ball forward and played a couple of decent crosses into the box

4 Husband: Didn’t look comfortable operating as a wing-back on his second league start;

6 BAMFORD: Worked hard throughout, but lacked that killer finish when he got into shooting positions

5 Kike: The Owls gave him no time or space and that meant he was isolated for large spells of the game

Subs

Leadbitter (for Omeruo, 58): His presence did give Boro a lift, but the damage had already been done. 6

Tomlin (for Whitehead, 58): It was always going to be difficult for the attacker to make a difference with the Owls in control. 6

Wildschut (for Forshaw, 72) 6

Not used: Ripley, Friend, Nsue, Woodgate.
