MIDDLESBROUGH'S medical staff will assess Lee Tomlin's leg injury later today after the forward was forced off at the half-time interval of yesterday's 2-1 win at Brighton.

Having scored the opening goal at the Amex Stadium, Tomlin suffered a kick to the leg in the closing stages of the first half.

He failed to reappear after the interval, and while the injury is not thought to be too serious, it will be assessed today with a scan a possibility.

As a result, the 25-year-old is an early doubt for Tuesday's away game at Wolves, where Boro will attempt to stretch their unbeaten run to eight Championship matches.

“Lee got a kick and we will have to wait to speak to the doctor and see how bad the problem is," said Boro head coach Aitor Karanka. "I am hoping that it is nothing serious, but we will have to wait and see because he was unable to come out for the second half."

Adam Clayton and Albert Adomah were unable to finish the game either, with the former suffering a head injury after a collision and the latter sustaining cramp in the closing stages.

Clayton was fully recovered as he left the Amex Stadium to head to the team bus, while Adomah should also be passed fit for the trip to Molineux.

“I got cramp in my left leg, which is unusual for me," said Adomah, who scored Boro's second goal at the start of the second half. "It’s very rare for me to get cramps like that. It’s the first one I’ve had in a while. Hopefully, I’ll be all right for Tuesday, I just have to recover and get back fit."

Karanka was delighted to see his side claim their fourth away win of the season, although he conceded they had not been at their best as they soaked up a large amount of Brighton pressure.

“It was an important win, even though it was not our best performance," said the Spaniard. "It is very important that we win games, especially when you haven’t played to your best.

“We haven’t played very well because they have a good team and they moved the ball very well. We had some problems because of that in the first half, but we won the game and that is the most important thing."
