EUROPEAN football boasts some of the best players in the world right now and a look at some of the younger players involved in Euro 2016 shows the future is just as bright.

There will inevitably be a lot of focus on players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Manuel Neuer, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and even Gareth Bale, despite Wales not being fancied too much, but there is also an incredible amount of talent coming through.

Deliberately overlooking English players Dele Alli and Marcus Rashford because there has been enough talk about them, there are plenty of others like Poland’s Karol Linetty, Turkey’s Emre Mor and Belgium pair Divock Origi and Jordan Lukaku to look out for.

But chief football writer Paul Fraser has picked out another five players aged 21 or under who have all the credentials to light up an exciting Euro 2016.

KINGSLEY COMAN, France

What a sensational season this 19-year-old has had. Technically he is a Juventus player but he has been sensational for Bayern Munich.

Coman can light up either flank with his trickery and has caused some of the best defenders in Europe problems over the last year.

His starting place in Les Bleus is not guaranteed because of competition from Anthony Martial, Anthony Griezmann and Dimitri Payet, but having already shone on the Champions League stage he is more than capable of delivering in his French shirt.

RENATO SANCHES, Portugal

Transfer fees have gone through the roof for teenagers over the last few years and the figures being talked about for this 18-year-old are no different.

Not only is he Portugal’s youngest player at the Euros and a recent addition to the Ronaldo-led camp, he is also a box-to-box midfielder who is heading for Bayern Munich this summer for an initial £28m which could rise to a whopping £60m depending on add-ons.

He was instrumental in Benfica’s successful drive for the Portuguese title and many expect him to play a prominent role because Portugal do have their weaknesses and are looking in a new direction.

BREEL EMBOLO, Switzerland

The free-scoring striker has not turned 20 yet and is attracting interest from Tottenham, but the Basel player will not come cheaply.

The Swiss club have already rejected a bid in the region of £19m in January from German club Wolfsburg and further Bundesliga sides are known to be preparing fresh moves this summer.

Embolo has become one of the most scouted teenage strikers in Europe over the last couple of years, with Manchester United and Bayern Munich just a couple of the clubs to have shown an interest, having scored 30 goals in 86 appearances for Basel.

If he can shine in France his £20m valuation could increase by even more.

ANTHONY MARTIAL, France

IT is more than likely Martial ends up playing through the middle more as he gets older, like his compatriot Thierry Henry did with Arsenal and the French.

For now the 20-year-old appears better suited to playing out wide for his country, where he has also propped up more often than not for Manchester United in the Premier League.

He was signed for £36m at the age of 19 and that will keep on rising to nearer the £60m mark if he continues to flourish like he has for club and country.

Martial, signed from Monaco, has the speed and technical ability to cause all manner of problems for any defence he faces over the next month and he could be an outside bet for top scorer.

JOSHUA KIMMICH, Germany

The 21-year-old is one of five Bayern Munich players in the Germany squad after enjoying a fantastic breakthrough season in the Bundesliga.

His emergence prevented Sunderland’s Jan Kirchhoff from becoming a more prominent figure in Pep Guardiola’s team and he has been likened to Ilkay Gundogan, who has just moved to Manchester City from Dortmund for £20m.

Kimmich specialises in breaking up play in the centre of the pitch but he is not averse to getting forward and helping out with the attacks too. This could easily be the tournament when his reputation hits new levels.
