MIDDLESBROUGH youngster Ben Gibson is hoping to complete a memorable Wembley double this weekend.

Gibson has spent the last three months on loan at Blue Square Bet Premier York City and was part of the side that lifted the FA Trophy with a 2-0 win over Newport County last weekend.

The 19-year-old started at left-back in the final, and will hope to retain his place when York return to Wembley on Sunday for the Conference play-off final against Luton Town.

"I'm still on cloud nine, but I'm looking forward to the next game, which is the important one," said Gibson, who is the nephew of Middlesbrough's chairman, Steve. "That's the one we really want to win to get us back into the Football League.

"If we don't win, the season will not be a massively successful one. We've just got to make sure we go about it the same way as we did on Saturday. What happened has gone, it's in the past now and we need to focus on this game.

"Once you've had a taste of success, you can't get enough of it. I was happy to be selected on Saturday because I'd been suspended for the previous four games and they'd had a few good results.

"But I managed to repay the manager for his faith by helping us do the job, so fingers crossed that I'll keep my place."

While Gibson has been on loan at both Plymouth and York this season, he remains one of the most highly-rated members of Middlesbrough's academy set-up.

The England Under-18 international has one senior Boro appearance under his belt courtesy of a substitute run-out against Coventry in April 2011, and is expected to feature more prominently when he returns to Teesside next season.

Tony Mowbray has already spoken about the need for some of the club's youngsters to start challenging for a first-team place, and both Gibson and Adam Reach are expected to be part of the senior squad next term.

"First-team football is something that, once you've had a bit of it, you just want more," said Gibson. "I'm focused on this season, but I would like to push myself towards the first team and see what the manager wants to do.

"But at the moment, I'm just concentrating on Sunday, which is the biggest game of my career so far. Hopefully, we'll get the job done and see where that takes me."
