MIDDLESBROUGH are unlikely to hear this week whether they will face action over the pitch invasion that overshadowed last Saturday’s crucial victory over Millwall at the Riverside.
The Football Association have asked for observations from both clubs before mulling over what evidence they have and deciding what route to take.
Middlesbrough are being told not to expect anything until next week at the earliest, with manager Tony Pulis focusing on preparing his team for a play-off battle.
After this Sunday’s trip to Ipswich, Boro will then be looking forward to a two-legged semi-final for the battle at Wembley for the right to play in the Premier League next season.
Hundreds of Middlesbrough supporters ran onto the pitch at the Riverside last Saturday after a victory which secured a top six place.
Some fans headed over to the corner of the stadium where Millwall fans were, meaning stewards had to create a wall to prevent further problems. Bottles were thrown.
If Middlesbrough can nail down the fifth place that everyone expects they now know when they will be facing Aston Villa if they do.
