MIDDLESBROUGH (4-3-3):

6 Konstantopoulos: Made a decent second-half save from Redmond’s header, but will not have many simpler assignments

7 Roberts: Completely in control on the right of Boro’s back four and looks an astute loan addition from Swansea

8 Ayala: Set up Fletcher’s goal as he charged out of defence and made an effortless return from an injury lay-off

7 Fry: Seems to grow in assurance with every game and looks perfectly at home at the heart of Boro’s back four

7 Fabio: Atoned for a first-half error with a superb header to open the scoring – threatened repeatedly down the left after that

6 Forshaw: The quietest member of the Boro midfield, but still went about his business with a calm sense of assurance

8 Leadbitter: Ran things at the heart of midfield and created a host of problems with his crisp forward passing

8 BAKER: Opened his Boro account with a cultured finish and looked comfortable in possession all night

7 Traore: Produced a lovely piece of trickery to set up Fabio’s opener and made a series of effective forward breaks

8 Fletcher: Opened his Boro account with a well-taken second-half goal and caused the Scunthorpe defence a succession of problems

6 Tavernier: Dallied when he should have got a shot away in the first half, but linked well with Fletcher for Boro’s third goal
