DANISH striker Martin Braithwaite is on Teesside to complete his £9m move to Middlesbrough.

Sources in Denmark claim the Toulouse captain will travel out to Portugal to join up with his new team-mates for the remaining days of the Algarve training camp. Middlesbrough have confirmed too.

It represents a major breakthrough for Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk in his bid to bolster his attacking options. He is also in the market for Nottingham Forest’s £14m striker Britt Assombalonga.

But Braithwaite will be joining first, following Jonny Howson and Cyrus Christie.

The forward will sign a three-year deal and there are not expected to be any problems with everything pretty much agreed with the player too. The two clubs agreed a fee overnight.

The Scandinavian is versatile and scored 11 goals in 34 matches last season for Toulouse in the Ligue 1. There have been Premier League clubs keen, but ambitious Middlesbrough have moved quickly and confidently to get things tied up.

The 26-year-old has scored 40 goals in 149 matches for Toulouse and he has played 16 times for his country.
