BOURNEMOUTH (4-4-2):

Boruc 6; Smith 7, Francis 7, S Cook 7, Daniels 8; Fraser 8 (Stanislas 72), Gosling 6 (L Cook 44, 6), Arter 8, PUGH 9; Afobe 7, King 8 (Mousset 84).

Subs (not used): Allsop (gk), Mings, Cargill, Gradel.

MIDDLESBROUGH (5-3-1-1):

6 Guzan: Prevented things becoming even more embarrassing with fine second-half saves from Afobe and Fraser

3 Barragan: Another dreadfully poor display that saw Pugh run rings around him on Bournemouth’s left-hand side

4 Chambers: Never looked comfortable as he returned from injury and was beaten far too easily as Pugh scored his goal

4 Gibson: Might have been Boro’s best player this season, but hasn’t been immune from the recent malaise – shaky throughout

4 Ayala: Was pulled here, there and everywhere by King and didn’t seem to know what to do about the striker’s pace and movement

4 Friend: Couldn’t contain the hugely-impressive Fraser and was fortunate not to be sent off for a second bad foul after he had been booked

6 DE ROON: Was the pick of Boro’s players – even though he was only on for 38 minutes. Came close with a good first-half strike

3 Clayton: Probably his worst performance in a Boro shirt as he was at fault for three of Bournemouth’s four goals

4 Downing: Didn’t influence things at either end of the field, but at least was one of the few players who kept plugging away

1 Ramirez: A complete embarrassment – if he doesn’t want to be at Middlesbrough, he shouldn’t be picking up his pay packet

5 Negredo: Toiled away with very little support, and fired in a fierce first-half strike that was well saved by Boruc

Subs:

6 Forshaw (for Barragan, 23): His attitude couldn’t be faulted as he ran himself into the ground in a futile attempt to change things

4 Fabio (for de Roon, 38): Was all over the place for much of his time on the field, but found himself in the unusual position of right midfield

Gestede (for Negredo, 80)

(not used): Konstantopoulos (gk), Bernardo, Traore, Stuani.

Man Of The Match: MARC PUGH – All of Bournemouth’s attacking players impressed, but Pugh was the pick thanks to his poise, movement and eye for a pass.
