MIDDLESBROUGH have confirmed the exit of two of their fringe players, with Julien de Sart and Tomas Mejias both leaving the club on loan.

Midfielder de Sart has joined Championship side Derby County on a season-long loan, while goalkeeper Mejias has signed a six-month loan deal with Rayo Vallecano.

De Sart moves to the IPro Stadium for the remainder of the campaign, having failed to force his way into the Boro team following a £2m move from Standard Liege.

The Belgian has only made one senior appearance for Aitor Karanka's side this season, and that came in August's EFL Cup second-round defeat at Fulham.

He joins a Derby side on the edge of the Championship play-off places, and is elegible to make his Rams debut in this weekend's FA Cup third-round game with West Brom.

Mejias has joined Spanish Segunda Division side Rayo Vallecano on a six-month loan, having fallen to fourth in Boro's goalkeeping pecking order this summer.

The Northern Echo:

The former Real Madrid shot-stopper has not made a single senior appearance for Aitor Karanka’s side this season, and only featured in cup competitions last year.

Victor Valdes is firmly established as Boro's number one goalkeeper, with Brad Guzan and Dimi Konstantopoulos providing cover.
