MIDDLESBROUGH (4-1-4-1):

6 Valdes: Beaten only by two good penalties and was otherwise rarely troubled by a below-par Leicester side

6 Barragan: Did a sound defensive job to keep Albrighton quiet and got forward when he could to join in with attacks

6 Chambers: Gave away the first penalty, perhaps unluckily, but generally did a decent job subduing Vardy and Okazaki

7 Gibson: A good performance from the skipper, who marshalled the defence well and kept a lid on Leicester’s forwards

6 Fabio: Showed lots of energy both in defence and attack but had a few problems against the footwork of Mahrez

7 Clayton: A disciplined holding midfield display that allowed Boro to keep Leicester’s attacking players in check and start attacks

6 Traore: Used his lightning pace to trouble Leicester occasionally but made a few poor decisions when he got into good positions

6 De Roon: Generally performed well in the heart of midfield but gave away the crucial stoppage-time penalty with a poor challenge

7 Forshaw: Produced a clever pass for Negredo’s second goal and looked inventive and creative throughout

7 Ramirez: Gave Simpson a tricky afternoon with some powerful running and did well to lay on Negredo’s opening goal

8 NEGREDO: Scored two good goals, led the line well and linked up play effectively in a very good all-round display

Subs:

Stuani (for Traore, 79)

Fischer (for Ramirez, 88)

(not used): Guzan (gk), Espinosa, Leadbitter, Downing, Nsue.

Man Of The Match: ALVARO NEGREDO - Broke his 11-game goal drought in emphatic style to cap a fine all-round display full of hard work and intelligence.
