WEST HAM (4-3-3):
Adrian 6; Byram 5 (Arbeloa 7, 5), Collins 6, Reid 6, Ogbonna 5; Obiang 6, Noble 6 (Lanzini 73), Kouyate 6; Tore 4 (Zaza 46, 5), Antonio 5, PAYET 8.
Subs (not used): Randolph (gk), Feghouli, Fletcher, Fernandes.
MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
6 Valdes: Didn’t have a chance with Payet’s goal but was rarely troubled either side of that with most of West Ham’s shots flying wide
4 Barragan: Suffered his toughest afternoon in a Boro shirt – couldn’t get close to Payet in the second half
5 Chambers: Made quite a few errors with his distribution letting him down, but made an important first-half block from Payet
7 Gibson: The pick of the Boro back four as he dominated Antonio and Zaza in the air – well-positioned throughout
7 Friend: Back to form after a shaky few weeks as he marked Tore out of the game in the first half
7 De Roon: Looks to have successfully got to grips with the Premier League – tackled tigerishly and passed the ball well
8 FORSHAW: Continues to justify his place in the starting line-up ahead of Clayton and barely gave the ball away
6 Stuani: Claimed his third goal of the season with an excellent header, but wasted a number of good crossing positions in the second half
6 Fischer: Started reasonably brightly as he tried to get forward to support Rhodes, but faded from prominence as the game wore on
7 Downing: Has been Boro’s most consistent player this season and worked tirelessly up and down the left-hand side
5 Rhodes: Finally got a chance to prove himself in the Premier League, but never really had an opening in front of goal
Subs:
Ramirez (for Fischer, 59): Was introduced in an attempt to add some guile, but was unable to come up with a punishing through ball 5
Negredo (for Rhodes, 67): Couldn't make much of an impact in the final stages of the game 5
(not used): Guzan (gk), Ayala, Espinosa, Clayton, Traore.
Man Of The Match: DIMITRI PAYET – In a game that was generally low on quality, the Frenchman’s second-half performance in particular stood out a mile. His goal was a moment of genuine class.
