MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
6 Konstantopoulos: Will not have had many quieter afternoons all season – his only save was a simple early effort to deny McGoldrick
7 Nsue: Continues to be one of Boro’s leading attacking threats from the full-back berth, and came close with a deflected first-half strike
7 Gibson: Barely gave McGoldrick a kick all afternoon and will be crucial in the final two matches – looks to be at the top of his game
7 Ayala: Was always in control defensively, but might have done better with a second-half header that bounced over the bar
7 De Laet: Has proved an able deputy for Friend in the past and was so again – is a defender that likes to be on the front foot
6 Leadbitter: Controlled the heart of midfield for long periods and ensured Ipswich’s creative midfielders were not a factor
6 Clayton: Saw plenty of the ball and generally passed well, but was probably forced to play deeper than he would have liked
8 ADOMAH: Boro’s most dangerous attacker for most of the afternoon, particularly on the break, and came close with a first-half header
7 Ramirez: Looked to be on the verge of making a breakthrough throughout the first half, but was less influential after the break
6 Downing: Continues to look more comfortable on the left-hand side, although too many of his crosses failed to find their target
6 Rhodes: Was unlucky with the second-half shot that hit the post, but should have done much better when clean through before the break
Subs:
Stuani (for Downing, 70): Was introduced on the right-hand side, but doesn’t look a natural winger and should probably have gone up front 4
Nugent (for Ramirez, 82)
(not used): Agazzi (gk), Kalas, Husband, de Sart, Forshaw.
IPSWICH (4-2-3-1):
Bialkowski 7; Chambers 7, Smith 7, DIGBY 8, Knudsen 7 (Foley 75); Skuse 7, Hyam 6 (Bishop 71); Feeney 5, Bru 4 (Douglas 84), Sears 5; McGoldrick 4.
Subs (not used): Gerken (gk), Pringle, Dozzell, Pitman.
Man Of The Match: PAUL DIGBY – The 21-year-old was making his senior debut at the heart of the Ipswich back four, and while there was an odd shaky moment, he can be proud of an accomplished display.
