MIDDLESBROUGH will travel to Oldham Athletic in the Capital One Cup first round for the second season in succession.

This morning's first-round draw has handed Boro a repeat to trip to Boundary Park for their first cup outing of the new campaign.

Last season, goals from Luke Williams, Grant Leadbitter and Kike earned Aitor Karanka's side a comfortable 3-0 victory

Oldham went on to finish the season in 15th position in League One, and their manager, Darren Kelly, said: "It's a very good draw for us and I'm delighted with it.

"They lost in the play-off final and we played them last year - they are a good side and it will be good to pit our wits against a good team in the division above."

Hartlepool will also be on their travels for the opening round of League Cup action, as they have been drawn away to another League One side, Fleetwood Town.

The first-round games will take place in the week beginning Monday, August 10, immediately after the opening weekend of the season.
