PATRICK BAMFORD has been crowned Championship Player of the Year at the Football League Awards in London this evening.
The Middlesbrough striker, who is on a season-long loan from Chelsea, beat off competition from Ipswich's Daryl Murphy and Watford's Troy Deeney to win the coveted award.
Bamford has scored 17 Championship goals this season, and has been a major figure in Boro's ongoing attempts to win promotion to the Premier League.
The award was voted for by the managers of all 24 Championship clubs, with Preston's Joe Garner honoured in League One and Bury's Danny Mayor winning the vote in League Two.
