AITOR KARANKA has praised the Middlesbrough supporters as season ticket renewal prices were unveiled by the club.

Season ticket prices have been increased for the first time in ten years, and could rise further if Boro are promoted to the Premier League.

But Karanka feels the support from the fans is more important than ever as they plot a course into the top flight.

“I want to praise them every single moment,” said Karanka. “Everyday I say they are very important for us because although we lost against Leeds there were 25,000 supporters in the stadium.

“The team is doing really well and we need their support but we know they are with us always.”

Boro will begin their 20th year at the Riverside this summer, and chairman Steve Gibson said: “The support this season reflects your desire, which I share, to see the club competing at the highest possible level with the best teams in the country.

"I am confident that the 20th anniversary will be a hugely enjoyable season both on and off the field and look forward to sharing in that with you.”

The renewals offer and pre-season price offer for new applicants will be available from today until Thursday, April 2.

Season cards will then be taken off sale until after the 2014/15 season has reached its conclusion, and will be subject to a price increase for the second phase of sale on either May 9 or May 30, all depending on when the season comes to an end and the club’s divisional status for next term is confirmed.

Renewal prices start at £397 for adults, £257 for over-65s, and £125 for Under-18s. The club is continuing with its 18-21 pricing in the South Stand and NW/ SW Corners at a price of£215.

Flexible payment options are available.
