AITOR KARANKA has been hit with a one match touchline ban by the Football Association.

The Middlesbrough manager has also been fined £2,000 for his actions during the 1-1 draw with Blackburn on November 29.

Karanka will not be in the dug-out for this Saturday's visit of Championship leaders Derby County.

The Spaniard travelled down to London today with chief executive Neil Bausor to appear in front of a disciplinary commission to explain his actions when he was sent off during a controversial ending to the visit of Blackburn.

He admitted the charge of improper conduct after Mark Clattenburg had sent him to the stands for shoving fourth official David Coote.

A statement from the FA read: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today (Wednesday, December 10), Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka will serve a one-match touchline ban with immediate effect.

"Karanka, who was also fined £2,000, admitted an FA charge of improper conduct in relation to his behaviour during stoppage time at the end of the game against Blackburn Rovers on 29 November 2014."

Middlesbrough coaches Leo Percovich and Carlos Cachada will now take the lead role from the bench when Steve McClaren brings the Rams to Teesside this weekend.
