Scott Flinders has ended his six-year stay at Hartlepool United to join York City on a free transfer.
And the goalkeeper is in line for a swift reunion with his former club as Pools go to Bootham Crescent just two games into the new season, on August 15.
Out of contract this summer, Flinders was offered a new deal at Victoria Park, albiet on reduced terms, and Ronnie Moore's signing last week of Trevor Carson indicated Flinders' time was up.
With 276 outings behind him since signing for Pools from Crystal Palace, Flinders holds the record for the most appearances by a Pools goalkepeer.
York have also signed former Carlisle midfielder James Berrett from Yeovil.
Pools, now under the control of new owners JPGN, are also seeking a second goalkeeper as back up to Carson.
