SCOTT HARRISON, the double Hartlepool United player of the year, can make his way back to the top-flight according to his boss.

The centre-half was presented with the supporters award and also the players’ honour prior to last weekend’s survival-clinching win over Exeter at Victoria Park.

Harrison had a loan spell at Pools at the end of last season, before returning to Victoria Park from Sunderland at the start of this campaign.

Once his three-month spell was over, he went back to the Stadium of Light. A third move to Pools was a permanent one in January after impressing Moore in training shortly after he was installed as Pools boss.

Since then, the former Darlington trainee who was taken to the Stadium of Light by Craig Liddle, his former coach at The Northern Echo Arena, has become a mainstay in the back four.

His dominant displays have now been recognised and Moore said: “Scott Harrison won the player of the year award and I keep saying he can be what we wants to be.

“He is quick for a centre-back, although he may not look it he covers a lot of ground quickly.

“I have no doubt he will grace the Premier League one day and it could be at the back or up front – and I keep saying that.’’

Moore added: “I did both roles as a player, probably 300 in defence and the rest up top. He knows the game and is the best finisher in the club at times when we do shooting practice.

“In training he goes up top and we have to shout at him to get back, he keeps reminding me I said he’s a good striker!

“He’s got confidence and is a bit cocky, but you need it. And we have one or two young players developing, add one or two more in the summer and who knows?’’

Moore will sit down with his players to reshape his squad for next season. Jack Compton has already announced his departure, and more will follow.

The manager said: “I’m not bright enough to say we are going for promotion next year, but let’s enjoy being a Football League club because of what has gone on. We were so so close to not being one, we don’t want this to happen again.’’
