HARTLEPOOL UNITED recorded back to back home wins for the first time in almost a year, as they saw off Plymouth 3-2 at Victoria Park.

Pools are seven points shy at the bottom of the League Two table, but have been boosted of late under Moore and followed up a win over Cheltenham two weeks previous with another victory.

Other results went against them as relegation rivals also won, but this victory gives them some hope amid a run of five home games from eight fixtures - and Pools are targeting victory at out of storts Portsmouth at the weekend.

Pools took an eighth minute lead as Jonathan Franks turned in a low cut-back from the left side from the impressive and solid Aaron Tshibola.

The Pilgrims levelled on the half houras Ryan Brunt was given time and space to pick his spot and shoot low past Scott Flinders from 20 yards.

At the start of the second-half, Flinders managed to hold up Rueben Reid when the striker charged on the breakaway and looked set to score.

Pools were soon back in front. Michael Woods linked with Scott Fenwick and the former carved open the back four and passed for Franks to drill in his second without hesistation to make him top scorer for the season on six.

And the win was sealed as Fenwick confidently swept in his fourth goal since turning professional after signing from Dunston in November. Michael duckworth won possession and fed the striker to score from ten yards.

Moore said: "The dressing room is a bit upset because of other results, but don’t worry about other results and other reams will see our result and have a panic on.

“It’s seven points now, a busy time to come and five from eight games are at home.’’

Opposite number John Sheridan reflected: “I’m not taking positives from the game. No disrespect to Hartlepool, I know they are fighting at the bottom of the league but I expected us to come and win the game.’’
