SCOTT FENWICK will be given every chance to add to his goal tally at the weekend.

The Hartlepool United striker, signed from Dunston in November, has impressed and improved of late under new boss Ronnie Moore.

After scoring last weekend at Tranmere, Fenwick was later forced off with a shoulder injury.

He had an X-ray on Monday and is hopeful of being passed fit to face Plymouth tomorrow and add to the three goals he has nabbed since turning professional.

“Scott did well last week, but we will not know until the last minute on Saturday if he will be OK or not,’’ revealed Moore, who turned 62 yesterday. “And we missed him when he went off last week – a few weeks ago I didn’t think I would be saying that, but he’s showed a vast improvement.

“He’s learning, come from non league and has those non league habits and he is appreciating how to play up top. It’s not all about scoring goals, it’s making runs, taking up the right positions and the role we gave him last week, he adapted to well and scored.

“I hope he is fit because we will be a little bit short if he’s not.’’

And Moore has extended the loan deal of Reading midfielder Aaron Tshibola until the end of the season.

Tshibola has been a regular in Moore’s side this month and tomorrow was due to be his final game of his initial spell.

Moore appreciates how valuable he can be in the coming weeks.

"Tish is a good player, there is no doubt about that,’’ he said. "We have been very fortunate that he came here because there was one or two clubs interested in him.

"I know Nicky Hammond, their Under-21 coach, really well, and he has sorted me out in the past with one or two players. He knows they get treated well and get good coaching.

"So, I think since he came in we have improved him.

"His physique says he can play at this level, you get some midfielders who are 5ft 5 or 5ft 6 and come into league football.

"At Under-21 level it is pass, pass, but here people close you down and you have to be physically strong enough for that. He has that in abundance and is very good on the ball.’’

And with fellow loanee Rakish Binham brining some much-needed pace and mobility to the forward line, Moore added: "Him and Rakish have the right mentality, they are brought up the right way and have a winning attitude - a few players at this club haven’t had that.

"The three lads that have come in, have certainly made us better and improved the atmosphere around the place.

"I just hope Bings can go on and get some more goals but we haven't been playing to his strengths yet.

"He really needs to be playing with a big lad up top and put balls ijn behind for his pace.

"I'm sure the goals will come for him.

"Certainly the three have brightened the place up and I will try and bring two more in before the deadline."

Midfielder Tommy Miller, who has been sidelined since the game at Cambridge on October 26 because of a calf injury, is ready to return next week.

Miller has had specialist treatment on troublesome scar tissue and Moore said: "Tommy is back, he has been away at St George's Park for a week. He has told me he will be training on Monday but we'll wait and see.

"He is his own worst enemy at times - he wants to get back too quickly, he hates being out.''
