HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-4-2):
7 Flinders: Put under his share of pressure, and did what was expected of him. Made saves, without being stretched;
6 Richards: One worrying first-half backpass aside, was solid and gave a reliable performance on his first start of the season
8 HARRISON: The first-half stand-out performer and throughout he never did anything wrong. Strong, commanding and read the game well
7 Bates: Always at ease on the ball, and now he’s up to speed with the game he’s proving a very reliable centre-half
6 Austin: Up against the tricky and swift Baggie on the flank, but dealt with him in his normal steadfast and competent manner;
6 Brobbel: Lively on the ball and again offered a direct threat. Pools needed his wing play to create as they got little joy through the middle
5 Walker: Bit off the pace this time out after his scoring heroics the previous week, but never shied away from the game
6 Miller: Like last week, was more mobile and tried to prompt Pools into forward action
5 Compton: One decent run and cross in the second-half aside, he didn’t make a big impact this time out;
5 Franks: Played the majority of the game with his back to goal and being tightly shackled by the visiting defence
6 Wyke: Put himself about and made himself available without getting in behind the back four.
Subs:
Harewood (for Franks 72)
Holden (for Compton 83)
Woods (for Brobbel 83)
(not used): Collins, Hawkins, Jones, Barber (gk).
TRANMERE ROVERS (4-5-1): Fon Williams 6; Holmes 6, Donacien 7, Ihiekwe 7, Hill 7; Baggie 7 (Donnelly 78), POWER 8, Gill 5, Laird 7, Richards 6; Stockton 7. Subs (not used): Holness, Koumas, Odejayo, Rowe, Fanimo, Brezovan (gk).
MAN OF THE MATCH
SCOTT Harrison – the loan centre-half from Sunderland is benefiting from a run of real football instead of Under-21 games.
