HARTLEPOOL UNITED’S takeover looks set to rumble on into next week.

While the deal is in place for Raj Singh, the former Darlington chairman, to take control at Pools, it has yet to be finalised.

There is no hitch in the process or the deal itself, the only delay is merely down to the legal framework around the takeover taking time.

Singh hoped to have it announced two weeks ago today, but it has rumbled on over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and further since.

A National League board meeting takes place next Thursday when it should be ratified by league officials and then be finally announced and confirmed. Pools’ owners Sage Investments and benefactor John Blackledge want everything in place and all papers signed off before the takeover is confirmed officially.

Singh has been at Pools’ last two home games and is likely to be at Victoria Park tomorrow again for their home game with Solihull Moors.

The opposition occupy the fourth relegation spot in the table and Pools sit seven points in front of them.

Victory for Matthew Bates’ side would all but secure their status for next season. The threat of a ten-point deduction for entering administration has been staved off with Singh in place to take over.

Defender Blair Adams is confident Pools can put Monday’s slip up at home to Guiseley to bed tomorrow.

The left-back was left disappointed when Pools shipped a last-minute goal to lose and said: “The aim was to make it four wins in a row.

“I think there were a couple of games called off for teams around us in the table so it was a chance to put more pressure on them.

“But you get games like that, how many times do you see matches where you dominate for 80 minutes and get hit by a sucker punch? It’s one of them things.

“We’re disappointed but we’ll go again on Saturday.”

He added: “We came out with a great result on Good Friday and we really should have won against Guiseley.

“Batesy has told us to keep our heads up. I don’t want to make excuses but I wonder if all those games in a short space of time have took it out of us?

“It was just one of the games we’ve not got the result we wanted.’’
