HARTLEPOOL UNITED’S outstanding tax bill has been paid.

The club was facing a High Court hearing, with a date booked for Wednesday, March 21.

But last night supporter Rachel Cartwright, who launched an online fund raising campaign to save the club, paid the outstanding bill of around £48,000.

She confirmed on Facebook yesterday she had the details to make the payment and transferred the money over last night.

Over £86,000 was raised online and the distribution of remaining money has yet to be determined. Staff and player wages are due to be paid in two weeks.

There has been little interest in buying the club, and time is running out to secure the club’s future.

Pools are at Barrow on Saturday in the National League.
