THE future for Hartlepool United is looking bleak.
The National League club is facing the very real prospect of administration.
A hashtag #savepoolsday has been set up on Twitter and one fan has created a JustGiving page in the hope of raising £200,000 by the end of the month.
Here is how fans have been reacting on Twitter:
If anybody is stuck for something to do on Sat 20th. Come and support @Official_HUFC when we take on @Wrexham_AFC. If you’ve got other plans, change them, come to the Vic and help #savepools. Every extra £ can make a difference as we fight to survive. #savepoolsday

Hartlepool FC is likely to go into administration and possibly cease to be a club. Boro fans can help by turning up to the next home game with Wrexham on the 20th of Jan to show support to a fellow NE club, this will proivide much needed funds #SavePoolsDay @bbcteessport

Hartlepool United are on the brink of administration, let's not let another north east professional football club die due to poor ownership. Game on 20.01.18. Can take another 5000 fans plus corporate boxes. Any sponsorship etc welcome. #savepoolsday #hufc #pools https://t.co/tR2HnUpHqk

When things like this happen you have to think not only of the club, but the people behind the scenes who work tirelessly every day to keep it running. The admin staff. The media staff. It affects a lot of people. #savepoolsday @TonyIncenzo

The whole #savepoolsday is a gimmick and pr stunt. What is being saved? A debt ridden, unsustainable, woefully underperforming football club with a fan base who has allowed this happen to them. Not one protest, not one.

Pretty sure @Official_HUFC are a large reason that @Boro actually exist due to letting you lend our ground in 1986. We helped you (@Boro) then, can you help us now, in our time of need? #savepoolsday #boro #pools #hufc

All NE football fans. If you’re at a loose end on Sat 20 January then get yourself to the Vic. Help one of your fellow clubs. #savepoolsday

In 86 we nearly died....

And if it wasn't for the likes of Hartlepool we would have.
January 20th at The Vic#savepoolsday
Good luck Hartlepool. Hope you survive. #Pools

Very sad times for #northeast football. #safc potentially at their lowest in my entire lifetime. #pools having only 15 days to find £200,000 to keep the administrators away.

Having worked in the town and spent the odd game covering #HUFC in the past really hope a solution can be found to save this club. The town needs #Pools fingers crossed someone can save the day

Hope it all gets sorted up at Hartlepool - been there, done that, worn the t-shirt. The FA have failed another club #HUFC #Pools

So sad to hear of another club in Hartlepool United being horribly mismanaged. Hopefully they can sort their future out for the fans' sake. #HUFC #Pools
