HARTLEPOOL UNITED made it two wins from two as they gave a polished display to see off Maidstone 3-1.

After racking up their first win of the season on Monday, they made it six points from six with their best performance of the season – by some distance.

Pools never gave the visitors time on the ball as their pressing game worked a treat.

They started well, pushing forward and two Nicky Deverdics crosses evaded Pools’ players in the six-yard box.

Pools were rampant on the attack and after Devante Rodney earned a corner, Keith Watson turned to sweep home.

A second goal should have arrived on 40 minutes, as Jon Franks planted a header wide from close range.

After a slow start to the second-half, Pools got a second when a flowing move saw Deverdics cross and Franks headed home low.

Franks then worked an opening wide, wriggling past two opponents and he picked out impressive debutant Connor Simpson who rose high to plant home.

Maidstone got one back in injury time, substitute Johan Ter Host finishing low.
