HARTLEPOOL UNITED have completed a transfer double with the signing of Ryan Donaldson and the re-signing of Carl Magnay.

Donaldson has agreed to move to Pools after making 33 appearances for Plymouth Argyle, who were promoted from League Two last season.

Donaldson, comfortable on the wing or up front, has previously made 12 appearances for Pools in the 2011-12 season, when he spent two months on loan at Victoria Park from boyhood club Newcastle United.

After enjoying a handful of first-team outings for The Magpies, Donaldson moved on to neighbours Gateshead in 2012 and he scored eight times in the National League in 2012-13.

He then joined Cambridge, before moving on to Plymouth, where he impressed last season.

Magnay has signed a new deal after his previous contract expired at the end of last term.

The defender has made 51 appearances since joining Pools in 2015, and overcame a cruciate ligament injury suffered last September to play a part in last season's run-in.

He already has experience in the National League, having reached the 2014-15 play-off final with Grimsby Town after joining them from Gateshead.

Meanwhile, Hartlepool's home will once again be known as Victoria Park after the club agreed a sponsorship deal with one of the town's businesses.

Pools have joined forces with Utility Alliance, an energy consultancy based on Hartlepool Marina, in a deal which will see the firm’s logo emblazoned across the home and away shirts for the next three seasons.

As part of the £240,000 deal, Utility Alliance has negotiated with the club’s chairman Pam Duxbury to ensure the stadium reverts back to its original name.
