Goals:

1-1: Dolan pen (69, low left-footed to the keeper’s right)
Bookings: Shepherd (40, foul), Nelson (89, foul)
Referee: Michael Salisbury (Preston): Didn’t do a lot wrong, with few contentious decisions to be made 7
Attendance: 3,410

HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-2-3-1):
7 Bartlett: More dominant in his penalty area than the week before and his late save from Dolan’s free-kick was first-class;
6 Donnelly: Typically rugged display as he kept it tight in the first-half, but was under a lot of pressure after the break as the visitors attacked down his flank
6 Bates: Largely unflustered and untroubled in the middle of the back four as the gangly Eaves was kept in check
7 Harrison: Appears to be enjoying his game more than ever and there’s no signs of the lapses which have affected him in the past
6 Kavanagh: Head up at all times, he always tries to use the ball intelligently and get forward himself to feed the front men;
5 Featherstone: Should suit him playing as a two-man holding midfield, afforded more freedom to roam rather than being pegged back
6 Walker: Not as good as his last home game, much better than his last appearance. Showed signs of being the player he can be;
5 Alessandra: Too often has a habit of checking back rather than being more direct when presented with any sort of opening
7 Amond: Needed to play higher up in the first-half, wasted dropping deep. Second-half more advanced and took his goal superbly
7 Nelson: Showed plenty of attacking promise, and his ball for Amond’s goal was a beauty. Inexperience showed in conceding penalty;
7 Rooney: Lively and chased and harassed and unlucky not to score on at least one occasion. Seems a useful addition.
Sub:

YEOVIL TOWN (4-3-3): Krysiak 6; Shepherd 6, Smith 6, Lacey 5 (Ward 33, 6), Dickson 6; Dolan 7, Butcher 6, Whitfield 5; ZOKO 7, Eaves 5 (Sowunmi 65, 5), Akpa-Akpro 5 (Jones 79). Subs (not used): Mugabi, Maddison, Goodship. James.
MAN OF THE MATCH LOUIS Rooney – sharp and inventive up front, a willing workhorse.
