2-2: Harrison (86, cracked in a rising shot after free-kick wasn’t cleared)
Bookings: McConville (16, foul); Donnelly (80, foul)
Attendance: 1590
Referee: Graham Salisbury (Preston): Old school referee who lets players get on with it 6
Entertainment: 2/5
ACCRINGTON STANLEY (4-4-2): Chapman 5; Donacien 6, Hughes 6, Beckles 5, Pearson 7; McConville 6 (Clark 71), Brown 5, Conneely 7, O’Sullivan 6; Kee 6, McCartan 6 (Edwards 71). Subs (not used): Vyner, Gornell, Boco, Rodgers, Little.
HARTLEPOOL UNITED (3-5-2):
5 Bartlett: One routine first-half save, but second half was called into action more and could get a few games in the weeks to come with Carson suffering a shoulder injury;
7 Harrison: Fine finish for the leveller and kept up his improved form as he was focused throughout, keeping Kee in check
7 Bates: That experience and ability to read situations makes him ideal to play the middle man in a three-man defensive line
6 Donnelly: Again proved what a shrewd signing he’s been with another fine defensive display;
7 Richards: Two good balls brought two goals for Pools and his delivery into the area is always a big part of his game
5 Laurent: Busy and did his usual pressing job before being replaced with Hawkins introduced in the second half
6 Woods: Some good touches and he’s always trying to probe and look for openings. Two games in a few days will do him the world of good for the rest of the season
5 Featherstone: Not his usual neat and tidy self as he got bogged down and forced back in midfield at times
5 Carroll: Caught napping in the second half for the Accrington penalty and was replaced by Oates as Pools switched to 4-4-2;
6 Paynter: Not given much protection from the referee as he was regularly manhandled, but needed to play higher up the pitch at times
7 Amond: Took his goal very well with a measured leap and headed finish. Two goals in two games since being restored to the side.
Subs:
Hawkins (for Laurent 64): Brought on to add some freshness to the midfield and soon switched to a wide-right spot 6
Oates (for Carroll 78)
Alessandra (for Paynter 87)
(not used): Walker, Pollock, Deverdics, Dudzinski (gk).
MAN OF THE MATCH Scott Harrison: solid defensively and earned a point with his finish.
