SCOTT HARRISON is confident Hartlepool United won’t be in the doldrums for long.

The centre-half was part of the Pools side that lost 1-0 at home to Blackpool on Boxing Day – also part of a side without a goal in five games.

It’s 450 minutes since Pools last scored and they take on Morecambe in a must-win game at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium on Friday evening.

Pools missed a late chance to end their drought when Lewis Alessandra spooned a penalty high over the bar.

Harrison said: “When the goals comes they will start flooding in.

“There was a time this season when we couldn’t stop scoring goals but we let a lot in.

“It is no-one’s fault. We are a team. We win as one and lose as one, too.

“We haven’t scored in five but I am sure it will change around soon.’’

Of Alessandra’s spot kick, Harrison concluded: “As soon as he hit it you could tell his head was down.

“But he is a good player so I know he will be back in the next game and I have no doubt he will be flying.

“He will not let it have an impact on his play.’’

The only goal came when Pools were caught out by a long clearance from the visitors which beat Harrison and Jake Carroll to allow striker Mark Cullen to get in behind the defence and net.

“After being so comfortable in the game it is disappointing to lose,’’ said Harrison.

“I am disappointed in myself for the goal. It was down my side and we switched off for a minute and it cost us. After all of the hard work we put in we have let ourselves and the lads down.

“The one time we switched off we lost the game because of it.

“We spoke at half-time and said it was important to get a clean sheet - the least we wanted was a point.’’
