HARTLEPOOL UNITED tonight recorded a thumping 6-0 win over Guisborough Town, while only managing a 1-1 draw at Seaham.
Pools split their squad and played two games against Northern League opposition, with the League One season starting at home to Colchester a week on Saturday.
This weekend sees Pools take on Scunthorpe at Victoria Park in their final pre-season outing.
Curtis Fleming took charge of the winning side, as summer signing Lewis Alessandra scored a hat-trick, along with goals form Lewis Hawkins, Billy Paynter and Padraig Amond.
Centre-half Toto Nsalia went off just before half-time with an injury, replaced by Ben Pollock.
At Seaham, Pools attacker Rhys Oates missed an early penalty and the home side then went ahead.
Scott Harrison, who is hoping to earn a fresh deal at Victoria Park after being released at the end of last season, scored the leveller.
