PADRAIG Amond, who hit 37 goals for Grimsby Town last season, has signed for Hartlepool United.
The striker has rejected a one-year contract offer at Blundell Park and has agreed terms on a two-year deal at Victoria Park.
And midfielder Michael Woods has today also signed a new contract to keep him at the club. He was offered new terms at the end of the season and there was interest from other clubs, but he has signed on his return from holiday.
Irishman Amond, 28, has had spells with Accrington and Morecambe before his career took off last season with 30 goals in 40 National League games and 37 in 50 games in all competitions.
He will join Nsiala and midfielder Nicky Deverdics in pushing for a first-team spot in Craig Hignett’s squad next season. Deverdics scored 15 times last season for Dover, while contributing with 18 assists in the National League.
Amond won nine trophies at the club’s player of the year awards last season. Twelve months ago, Pools landed defender Carl Magnay from the Mariners, after he too won a glut of honours after an impressive season.
Pools also last week landed centre-half Toto Nsiala from the newly-promoted Mariners.
