HARTLEPOOL UNITED is planning to change its club badge.

Pools have revealed there will be a new badge ahead of the 2017/18 campaign – not for next season.

The League Two outfit want supporters to play their part in the process and hope for a more up-to-date design.

A Hartlepool statement read: "From now until the end of June we want Pools supporters to send us through their ideas and help us get a feel for what you think is important in a new club crest.

"You don’t need to be a skilled artist to get involved – simply send us over your sketches and ideas and we’ll look to have the best ones professionally designed.

"From there, we’ll draw together a shortlist of the best designs and allow all supporters to vote on which one they want to see emblazoned on the shirts from the start of 2017/18."

And Hartlepool chairman Gary Coxall added: “We want to modernise the club crest but we realise the importance of involving our supporters in the process.

“We have a few ideas of our own but I’m really looking forward to seeing what the fans come up with and how things evolve between now and the start of the 2017/18 season.

“One thing I think we have to make room for is the continued use of ‘The Town’s Club’ motto on the crest so any designs will need to incorporate that.”

Sketches and ideas should be sent to media@hartlepoolunited.co.uk with a title of ‘Club Crest’ on the email.
