HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-2-2-2):
4 Carson: After the high of last week’s end of season awards came the low of his most disappointing day of the season;
3 Magnay: Caught out pressing forward as the second goal came from a counter attack and game ended at half-time through a hamstring injury
5 Jackson: Tried to maintain his standards as those of others crumbled all around him to varying degrees;
4 R Jones: Caught out a couple of times in the first-half, before he was forced to hobble off with an injury
3 D Jones: Like Magnay on the other flank, was left exposed and his distribution wasn’t up to much from wide and struggled when shifed to the middle;
4 Hawkins: Had had a big influence on games of late, but not this time. Had a tough time when asked to fill in for 45 second-half minutes at right back
5 Feathertsone: Limited impact, first-half had no say on proceedings and the system implemented negated his impact;
4 James: Looked lost playing deeper and wider than normal. Had a second-half chance to score, but goes back to Peterborough with only one penalty to show for his efforts;
4 Paynter: Suffered frustration as he was left isolated up front, service was non-existent and he was shackled by the home defenders
4 Thomas: In and out of the game, wanted to make more of an impact at his former club than he could manage.
Subs:
GRAY (for Magnay 46): Brought some energy and drive to the side 7
Richards (for R Jones 46): Filled in at left-back and it wasn’t easy 4
Walker (for Thomas 71)
(not used): Bartlett (gk), Bingham, Oates, Laurent.
