BRAD Walker did his chances of a move to the Championship no harm last night, as he impressed on trial for Wolves.

The Hartlepool United midfielder spent a few days on trial at Molineux in December before returning to Victoria Park.

And last night he played for Wolves’ Under-21s in their 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa.

Walker, however, gave a composed display in midfield and almost capped his performance with a fine goal.

Early in the second-half, he skipped past two players before firing a low shot wide.

The 20-year-old trained with both the Academy squad and first-team last month and last night’s display gave boss Kenny Jackett the chance to see him in action first-hand.

It remains to be seen what happens next, but Pools are seeking a fee of around £50,000 for the midfielder, who was two years ago named the Football League Apprentice of the Year during his breakthrough season.

However, he struggled to hit those heights last campaign and has been only a bit-part player under Ronnie Moore.

The Pools boss is still looking to add to his squad this week and Luke James could still return to Victoria Park.

A loan deal with Peterborough failed to go through last week and he remains on loan at Bradford, but they are willing to let him move on.

Moore is likely to lose striker Ellis Harrison after the Bristol Rovers loanee was injured just half an hour into his second game for Pools, the 1-1 draw at Cambridge on Saturday.

He damaged his lower leg and will be assessed by his parent club today.

Midfielder Carl Magnay and striker Billy Paynter are due to play for Pools reserves at Notts County this afternoon.

Magnay has not played since suffering a groin strain in the FA Cup replay win over Salford on December 15. Paytner turned out for the reserves last week and if he comes through today’s game he should start against Exeter on Saturday at Victoria Park.
