HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-4-1-1):

6 Carson: Did all that was asked – and the vast majority of it was routine, such was Pools’ control of the game;

5 Richards: Taking his share of set-pieces on his return to the side. Question marks raised by the manager over his role in the late equaliser

8 Bates: Read the game superbly from the back and was at ease throughout on his first game in a few weeks after injury

7 Jackson: Was ill on Friday, but on this performance it was hard to tell as he was on top of the game

6 Carroll: Another solid and improved showing, starting to display more of what he is capable of. Made some key blocks to keep out the Us;

5 Hawkins: Had his work cut out at times on the flank, as the full-back pushed forward at will. A disciplined performance

6 Featherstone: Sat deep in front of the back four to shield and protect to decent effect

7 Woods: Played a bit more advanced and when he got on the ball he probed and created with some intelligent passing through the defenders

6 Oates: Did all that was asked on the left side, and his late run and lovely cross should have been converted by Bingham to make it two;

7 Gray: Enjoyed his forward-thinking role and, while he scored one, he should have had more such was the nature of his game;

6 E Harrison :Early promise – he struck a post – was ended with a leg injury and his loan spell may be over.

Subs:

Bingham (for Harrison 31): Never looked settled or had the same presence and movement of Harrison 4

Jones (for Oates 90)

(not used): Bartlett (gk), Thomas, Walker, Fenwick, Smith.
