RONNIE Moore yesterday missed out on making an addition to his Hartlepool United squad.

The Pools boss was hopeful of securing a loan signing ahead of the deadline, but the 5pm mark passed without much incident at Victoria Park.

Midfielder Ebby Nelson-Addy moved to Worcester City on a month’s loan.

Speaking at yesterday morning’s press call, Moore was confident of adding one more to his ranks to see him over the next month before the transfer window reopens on January 1.

"I'm hoping to try to do a bit of business before the deadline,’’ he admitted. "It will be a young kid because we've tried everywhere for experience.

"With a bit of luck, it will another player to add to the squad, but I'm just waiting on a phone call for that one.’’

Pools trained at their Durham base yesterday, following Tuesday’s washout at Accrington and Wednesday’s reserve game at Burnley.

Pools drew 0-0 with the Championship club’s academy side, and Moore fielded three trialists, but none will be invited back for more.

He said: "Sam took training on Wednesday and I went to Burnley to watch a few trialists we had.

"None grabbed my attention but it's always worth looking.

"As long as the agent puts them up, it doesn't cost the club anything. We'll reimburse them if we take the player, so they can keep sending as many as they like.

"We'll always look because sooner or later you may pick up a little gem.

"But of the present crop of three nothing will [probably happen with them.’’

Tomorrow’s opponents Oxford are second in League Two, with only one defeat in 16.

Striker Kemar Roofe is admired by Newcastle and Moore said: “They are a big club at this level with some good players, Ryan Taylor who I had at Rotherham and I know all about him.

"They are decent, Mullen at the back's good, it'll be a tough game.

" Roofe has had a tremendous start to the season, we know all about him, he's a danger.

"He gets on the back post and gets goals, but if we keep looking at their players we'll be frightening the life out of our team.

"We've got to be positive and look at our side.

"I said to the lads the other day, I looked at Accrington's team then ours and would I swap their side for us, I don't think so.

"We should be confident that if we can play, keep the ball, that there is no fear there for us.

"Plymouth are decent, I've seen them, and Portsmouth have hit form, scoring six the other night.

"It's all about on the day, that's why the league is so tight.’’

Pools chairman Gary Coxall and chief executive Russ Green attended a meeting of the club’s newly-formed Supporters’ Trust on Wednesday evening.

Phil Dunn from the Trust said: “The most vital part of the Trust’s existence is to work alongside the club, and we thought the night would be a good way of bringing the two elements together.

“Gary Coxall was really impressive; he answered pretty much everything that was thrown at him and I know he has gained much respect and admiration from the fans for doing so.

“In recent years there perhaps hasn’t been an air of openness around the club and this sort of interaction can only help the relationship between the club and fans. It’s all about pulling together now.”
