HARTLEPOOL UNITED’S game at Accrington Stanley has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Heavy rain in Accrington this afternoon has rendered the pitch at the Wham Stadium unplayable.
Referee Darren Drysdale consulted both managers during a lengthy inspection and called the game off shortly before 7pm.
Areas of the pitch remain saturated and the ball was not travelling freely on the surface.
Pools boss Ronnie Moore admitted he had no qualms over the decision.
“It’s dangerous for the players – and yet this pitch is miles better than it was a couple of weeks ago when they played Newport!’’ said Moore.
“Everyone has to make a decision and for me it’s the right one on safety grounds.’’
