MAGNUS Okuonghae could remain at Hartlepool United beyond this weekend.

The big centre half is on loan from Luton Town, and Sunday’s televised game with Orient is scheduled to be the last one of his temporary one-month stint.

Okuonghae made a big impression on his debut against Dagenham, but suffered a foot injury a week later at Wimbledon and, after missing last weekend’s win over Cheltenham, has not played as many games as Luton would have liked.

Hatters’ boss John Still sent him out on loan to build up match fitness after recovering from an Achilles problem, but only playing two full games wasn’t the plan.

X-rays didn’t show a broken metatarsal as was initially feared and Moore said: “We hope he’s going to be OK for Sunday. He’s due to train Friday and Saturday and we look from there. It’s tough for me to leave anyone out after the way the defence played and Adam Jackson did well.’’

Jackson moved on loan from Middlesbrough last week and made a solid debut alongside Matthew Bates in the middle of defence.

Scott Harrison remains a doubt with a hamstring strain for Sunday.

And Moore said: “With Magnus, the whole feeling from Luton when he came was that he was here for a month.

“They wanted him to come out and play games and get match-fit. He came off at Wimbledon and then couldn’t play in the cup. I will speak to John Still at Luton and see what his feelings are.

“This would be his last game, and the two physios have been in touch more than the two managers have because he’s been having treatment – but if I can take him for another month then brilliant.

“I would have him, he proved his worth in his first game and he’s been carrying a knock. If he’s fit and we can have him for a month then I will take him.’’

Last weekend saw Pools secure a welcome home win, as they got the better of Cheltenham 1-0 in the FA Cup.

Moore said: “Cheltenham was a win – we take it at this moment in time and we have played better and lost.

“We knew we can be better, but the pleasing thing was keeping a clean sheet – down to luck at times, and also down to some fantastic goalkeeping.’’

“We’ve a big spell ahead, with Salford in the FA Cup to come, but before then there’s a few important games to think about. We’ve two sides in the top seven, then the cup then three sides in the top seven.

“It’s a big time to come with points to play for.

“We won at home last weekend which puts it to bed and we knew it was being mentioned. Now we still have to win a league game at home to stitch that one up.

“Let’s go and do it right, but it’s a tough game against a strong squad of players.’’

Pools have been allocated 350 tickets for their FA Cup second round tie at Salford City on Friday, December 4. The game, televised live on BBC2, kicks-off at 7.55pm. Tickets will be £10 adults and £2 concessions and details of their availability will be announced next week.
