RONNIE MOORE has urged his players to carry on their improved form – and give something back to the Hartlepool United supporters.

Successive wins at Morecambe and Oxford in the last week have engineered the feeling that Pools can beat the drop to the Conference.

The gap to safety is down to four points, and the club has reduced ticket prices for tomorrow’s home game with Mansfield to encourage an improved atmosphere and outlook.

Six points from six, without a goal conceded in the process, has raised belief around the town.

With successive home games to come, Cambridge follow a week tomorrow, Pools have a real chance to finally move off the foot of the table.

And Moore said: “It’s a tremendous gesture from the chairman really, he’s sees the position we are in. The fans are brilliant here, fantastic support and we took 102 to Oxford on a Tuesday night and the backing we had at Morecambe last weekend was different class.

“We want the place rocking here on Saturday and it’s up to us to make sure they all go home happy and celebrating. If we give the effort and workrate we have been giving and do it right then I’m sure every supporter in there will appreciate what they are getting.

“But it’s up to us to get them going, let’s see how many we get in and how it goes.’’

Pools’ chairman Ken Hodcroft looked set to exit the club in December, but the proposed take-over deal was scuppered amid concerns over the future direction of the club.

Hodcroft and IOR remain in charge and the chairman admitted: "We're happy to be able to offer a reduction in ticket prices this weekend as a thank you to our fans for their loyalty and support.

"The backing you have all given to the team both at home and away has been superb and I want you to know that it is hugely appreciated by everyone at HUFC and by the owners IOR.

"We're approaching a critical point of the season and we all know that your support can still play a key role in our fight for survival so please come along in your numbers once again on Saturday and help cheer the team to victory."

Pools home form has improved of late, with four wins from six games giving them a solid platform.

But the week on the road will, as Moore accepts, have taken it out on the squad and ahead of yesterday’s training session, he said: “We’ve had a tough week, we won’t do too much today and we didn’t get back until 4am on Wednesday morning. People will have the violins out, talking about professional footballers... but for the effort they have given we will have to look after them.

“We take our foot off the gas today, but let them go on Friday and prepare for a massive game.

“They are all big games now, every one of them so we light the blue torch paper.’’

The last two displays have been as solid and honest as anything served up previously this season and Moore admitted the belief and confidence around the camp is high.

“Could we win five in a row? At this level you never know. Sooner or later we knew we would win away and keep a clean sheet and we’ve done both in a week twice.

“The wins have boosted everyone, but there’s been a good spirit about the place for a while now anyway.

“We’ve been seven points, then six, back to seven or more and now it’s a realistic four. Everyone looks and see it as gettable.’’

Seating prices have been reduced to £12 for adults and £6 for concessions, while fans can stand for £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Tickets for tomorrow game are on sale now from the Victoria Park ticket office and will also be available on the turnstiles prior to kick-off.
