One game into his return for Hartlepool United and Matty Dolan now has to sit out the next one.
The loan signing from Bradford played in Saturday’s home defeat to Wycombe, but is ineligible for Friday’s FA Cup tie with Blyth Spartans at Victoria Park
Pools take on the Conference North side with a string of players missing. Dolan and Scott Fenwick are cup-tied, Sam Collins and Michael Duckworth are injured, while Pools need permission from Newcastle to play loan signing Adam Campbell and Cambridge to field Matteo Lanzoni at the back.
Dolan said: “I am cup tied for Blyth, I came on for five minutes against Halifax Town which is a shame because I’d have loved to play in the cup match.
“It was an easy decision for me to come back.
“I hadn’t been playing at Bradford and needed to be playing football.
“It is nice to be home and I don’t think the quality in that dressing room should be anywhere near the bottom of the league.
“It is just a case of getting that first result and going on a run - we did that last season just before Christmas.’’
Dolan was also at Pools last season, spending time on loan from Middlesbrough before he moved to the Bantams on a permanent deal in January.
He has experience of success at Pools and admitted: “I check the fixtures and the results every week.
“It means a lot to me and this is a time to roll up the sleeves and get out of it.
“You can’t hide, everyone can see we are bottom of the league.
“It is killing me, the position we are in. I have mates who are season ticket holders and off season I play five-a-side with diehard fans and it is not a nice position to be in.
“I have no doubt we can get out of it, once we get that win.
“The gaffer and Willie are pushing everybody to get it.
“The manager here is so enthusiastic and that will bubble over into the lads.’’
Spartans will hold their media briefing at Croft Park this morning.
n Friday’s game is televised live on BBC2 (7.55 kick-off) and tickets are on general sale at Victoria Park.
Blyth have sold out their initial allocation in the Smith & Graham Stand and, have been sent an extra 250 tickets for the Niramax Stand.
Pools have sold well over 1,000 tickets so far to season ticket holders.
The ticket office (£20 adults, £10 concessions) is open 10am until 4pm every day this week, and on Friday will be open until kick-off.
