HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-2-3-1):
7 Flinders: Responded well to the captaincy and was positive in his penalty area and not afraid to scream at his defenders;
8 Duckworth: Three great performances in a week – linked up well on the gallop going forward and created the opener with his energy
7 Austin: Read the game well in the middle, made some telling blocks and interceptions all day
7 Harrison: Important first-half block inside the penalty area. Knows his first job is to defend and concentrates on doing his job
7 Jones: Encouraging debut at left-back. Got forward when he could and defended well. Deserves a run in the side;
7 Miller: Sitting in this formation suits. Passed the ball astutely and across the pitch to keep possession for Pools – rarely wasted a pass
6 Bates: Different role, playing in midfield. Not at it in the first half, but grew into the role second half and he regularly popped up on the edge of the opposition area;
8 HAWKINS: Energetic, positive and always turned towards the opposition goal when he had possession. Added some real life to the side
7 Woods: Took his goal superbly and playing in behind the front man suits his game. Clever in possession
6 Brobbel: Saw his share of the ball, without hurting Exeter in the manner he is capable of. Let down by final ball too often;
8 Wyke: Took his goal well, put himself about and ran himself into the ground in the last 20 minutes as Pools saw the game out.

MAN OF THE MATCH Lewis Hawkins – his performances in the last week make his omission from the team this season all the more bewildering.
