Goals:
0-1: Rigg (54, nodded in a long throw, heading across Flinders from six yards)
0-2: Elliott (83, slid in a low angled finish from 12 yards)
0-3: Beck (89, knocked in from close range after Pools were again carved open on the left)
Bookings: Archibald-Henville (16, foul); Holden (29, foul)
Referee: David Bond (Burscough): Little to get involved with, although could have awarded Pools a second-half penalty 6
Entertainment: 1/5
HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-4-2):
7 Flinders: Pools would have been three goals down  by 50 minutes if it wasn’t for their goalkeeper. Exposed time and time again;
8 DUCKWORTH: A performance head and shoulders above his team-mates, full of energy and drive
4 Bates: Horrible opening minute mistake almost gifted away a goal and laboured for most of the game
5 Harrison: Routine and effective in the penalty box with his firm and alert defending
4 Austin: Final two goals came from attacks down Pools left side;
4 Brobbel: Saw his share of possession, but never got the better of full-back Grainger and lost possession too often
4 Walker: Another below-par display, showing little of the form he did last season
5 Miller: Passed the ball with some purpose to try and get Pools going, although was overran in midfield on occasions
4 Holden: Involved in the first half, without having much impact or productivity in an advanced role;
5 Wyke: Not much of a goal threat this time, kept going to the end in an honest performance
4 Harewood: Another start, another unflattering performance. Any new manager needs much, much more from the experienced forward.
Subs:
Franks (for Holden 46): The odd lively moment, but suffered as much as his team-mates 5
Woods (for Walker 67): Given an advanced midfield role and tried to get forward and add something to the attack 5

MAN OF THE MATCH Michael Duckworth – gave his all from start to finish and always tried to get forward from his deep role
