Darlington players will get a taste of the high life today when they train at Chelsea’s training ground ahead of tomorrow’s Blue Square Bet Premier game at Eastbourne Borough.

Quakers today make the journey south and thanks to Paul Terry, Mark Cooper’s squad will prepare for the game at the multi-million pound facility in Cobham.

Assisstant manager Richard Dryden revealed the squad are looking forward to the experience and hopes it will make the trip easier for the squad.

“We’ve trained well today and we’ll leave early Friday morning,” said Dryden.

“Luckily we’re going to use Chelsea’s training ground in the afternoon, thanks to Paul Terry and his brother (John).

“Then we’ll head off to our hotel in Eastbourne so we’re doing it properly.

“It is a long trip but we’ll prepare as best we can and do some light work Saturday morning so there are no excuses for the game.”

Dryden is also hoping Quakers can improve on the 1- 1 draw with Barrow on Monday, and admitted the side were left disappointed.

“We took heart from the performance,’’ he insisted.

“We were extremely disappointed we didn’t win it, especially after going 1-0 up, but the game ended so openly in the last 20 minutes it could have ended up three or four each in the end.

“We’ve upped the work-rate in the last two games, especially against Barrow and Gateshead. We think the lads are fit enough to have a right go from the first minute to the last and I hope that will reap the rewards as the season goes on.

“It’s a league where the beautiful game sometimes isn’t played beautifully, we’ve got to earn the respect from other teams before we can get the ball down and play, but I think we’ve done that pretty well.”

Liam Hatch, Chris Senior and Kevni Austin should be fit, but Ian Miller and Tommy Wright are doubtful.

Left-back Dominik Werling has moved to Hereford. Former Quakers boss Simon Davey had signed the leftback during his short stint in charge at the Northern Echo Arena.

“He was a last-minute arrival on deadline day after we heard that he had bought out his contract at Darlington and so was a free agent,’’ claimed Davey.

Quakers’ game at York City has been brought forward 24 hours to Monday, September 27 to be televised live by Premier Sports TV, a subscription channel only available on Sky television.
