DARLINGTON will today confirm the signing of Liechtenstein international Franz Burgmeier on a one-year contract.

As we revealed in Monday's Northern Echo, the winger, who played in Liechtenstein's 2-0 defeat to Albania last night, has impressed Dave Penney while on trial with Quakers.

The 26-year-old has almost 50 international caps and spent the last three years of his career in Switzerland - playing alongside former Quakers striker Gaetano Giallanza.

Manager, Dave Penney is likely to include Burgmeier in the squad to face Gillingham this Saturday.
