REECE STYCHE has netted Darlington FC a £20,000 cash bonus after winning a national competition.

The Quakers have been awarded the figure for being deemed from a shortlist of ten to have had the best celebration this season.

After Styche scored against Chorley at Blackwell Meadows in January he jumped into a mound of snow behind the pitch along with team-mate Gary Brown.

It was a fitting way to say thank you to the 70 or so Darlington supporters who spent the morning of the game clearing snow from the pitch.

One supporter had pledged to donate money to the Darlo Sponsor a Goal scheme - which raises money for the club - if Styche jumped into the snow if he scored.

He did so and now Darlington have won the £20,000 prize after being named the winner of the Non League Challenge sponsored by Marathon Bet.
