DARLINGTON’S new shirt sponsor is Newton Aycliffe-based company Ebac, who have agreed a two-year deal to have their name emblazoned across Quakers’ kit.

Ebac, whose headquarters are on the Aycliffe Industrial Park, have been sponsors of the Northern League since the 2012-13 season, when Quakers won the Division One title.

The deal with Darlington, who for the past two years have been sponsored by Virgin Trains, includes an option for a third year.

Darlington director John Tempest said: “We have been in discussions with Ebac over the past few weeks and with them having now completed their due diligence, I’m delighted that they have chosen to partner the club for the next two seasons.

“Their owner, John Elliott, has the same philosophy in his business which complements very well into our fan-owned club.”

Ebac, who produce dehumidifiers and watercoolers and whose headquarters are on the Aycliffe Industrial Park, were founded in 1972 by John Elliott MBE.

In 2012, Mr Elliott created the Ebac foundation, which meant that profits are reinvested back into the company for growth purposes, and any surplus can be used to benefit the local community. The company sponsor a variety of clubs and organisations in the area.

Ebac financial director Graham Currie added: “We are happy to be able to partner with Darlington, their values and ambitions align well with our own.”

Earlier this month Darlington announced that their kit for the next three seasons will be made by Puma, who are replacing Spennymoor-based Avec.
