NATHAN CARTMAN has left Darlington to join Farsley Celtic on loan.

Quakers boss Martin Gray believes the striker needs to be playing games, while sending him out on loan also takes the player off the wage bill for a spell.

Darlington are well-stocked in the forwards department, with Mark Beck and James Caton the current first-choice pairing, while on the bench for the first two games have been Scott Fenwick and Harvey Saunders.

Cartman travelled to Salford City on Saturday but was not on the bench, while he was in attendance at Blackwell Meadows last night for the win over Gainsborough Trinity when he signed the paperwork ahead of his loan move.

The temporary transfer, which is for 28 days, represents a drop of one division for Cartman, who will make his Farsley debut on Saturday at home to Coalville Town.

Should Cartman’s stay at Farsley be extended then he could play in the North-East during October as his new club have been drawn away to South Shields in Integro League Cup.

On Saturday Darlington play at Blackwell Meadows against Alfreton hoping to make it three wins from three, and a large attendance is expected.
