DARLINGTON manager Martin Gray dedicated today’s win to Ryan Wilson, the Quakers supporter who died this week in tragic circumstances.

The 26-year-old who is understood to have worked at Argos in Faverdale, was killed instantly on Wednesday when his cycle collided with a Honda Accord on Rotary Way.

A minute’s silence was held in tribute to him ahead of today’s game with Gloucester City at Blackwell Meadows, and his family were in attendance.

Quakers won 2-0, and Gray said: “I want to dedicate the win to Ryan Wilson.

“It’s very sad that we’ve lost him, a true fan, very passionate about his club. He used to watch us home and away, so our thoughts are with his family.

“That win is for his family and for Ryan.”

In a statement issued through Durham Police this week, Mr Wilson’s family said: “Ryan was a hardworking, quiet lad with a big heart.

“He loved Darlington FC and went to nearly all the matches both home and away and kept all the match programmes and tickets.

“He always wore his Darlington shirt with pride.

“He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.”
