DARLINGTON fans without a ticket for the club’s homecoming on Boxing Day may be in luck as Halifax have been unable to sell their entire allocation.

Early this week Halifax claimed that 600 tickets would not be enough to cater for the number of their fans planning on making the trip to the North-East.

A statement on their website read: “Despite a larger request, FC Halifax Town has been offered 600 tickets only. We fully understand that we require more than this number for our fans, but with segregation in operation we are not going to be allowed anymore.”

However, The Northern Echo understands that around 250 tickets are heading back to the North-East.

Quakers cannot say when they will go on sale until they receive the tickets, but are hoping they arrive on Christmas Eve.

Darlington manager Martin Gray, meanwhile, is taking his players to Blackwell Meadows on Christmas Eve in order for the squad to familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.

He said: “It’s a new start for the club. It’s four years ago when we played Bishop Auckland, there’s that feel-good factor going into the new ground.

“We’re going down there on Saturday morning for a couple of hours to have training and get used to the place. We’ll have a walk around, use the changing rooms, we’ll be there to get used to the new surroundings.

“It’s exciting. The number of tickets the fans have bought tells you something about the excitement.”

Meanwhile, Halifax are to sign striker Adam Morgan after he scored 11 goals in nine appearances in all competitions for Curzon Ashton.

Morgan only joined Curzon in October and scored a hat-trick in the FA Cup against AFC Wimbledon, as well as a double against Halifax.

A Halifax statement read: “The 22-year-old will join the Shaymen on an 18-month deal – subject to paperwork from the league/FA.”
