DARLINGTON tomorrow plan to announce ticket details for their all-ticket Boxing Day game, which they hope will be their homecoming.

Quakers play Halifax Town and intend the match to be played at Blackwell Meadows, their first game back in town after four and a half years as tenants at Bishop Auckland.

Work on upgrading facilities and erecting stands has been ongoing at Blackwell, home to Darlington Rugby Club, since August.

Representatives from the Football Association inspect the venue on Monday, while the safety advisory group, which includes members of the council and police, must also examine Blackwell before permitting Quakers to play there.

Nonetheless, Halifax have already been allocated 600 tickets for the match and they go on sale to their fans on Saturday.

A statement on the Shaymen’s website read: “Despite a larger request, FC Halifax Town has been offered 600 tickets only.

“We fully understand that we require more than this number for our fans, but with segregation in operation we are not going to be allowed anymore.”

League rules dictate that visiting clubs must receive 20 per cent of the available tickets, and Blackwell is expected to have a 3,000 capacity.
